On the 20th Jan 2017, engineering student leaders from 7 universities across the country met at the school of engineering University of Nairobi to initiate the process of creating Kenya Engineering Students Association.

This association is aimed at being the voice of all engineering students in seeking to improve the training of engineers in the country.

In the meeting, Kevin Odongo of the University of Nairobi was elected as the first President of the association.

Other positions of the association were distributed as follows:

  1. Vice President-Betty Langat UoE
  2. Sec Gen- Tom Juma-KU
  3. Finance Secretary- Wambui Kinyanjui- Moi
  4. Organizing Secretary-Geoffrey Wambui-MMUST
  5. Academics Secretary-Wilson Kihara-TUK
  6. Publicity Secretary- Lucy Mugala-JKUAT

It was agreed that the physical location of the association be at the University Of Nairobi School of engineering until a time when the association will be able to acquire its own offices.

We will appreciate any support given to us by schools of engineering in the country, engineering consultants and other players in the engineering industry.

We are grateful to the dean of School of engineering University of Nairobi, Prof. Mwangi Mbuthia for hosting us in the first meeting.
